Small Business Shopster Debut

IMG_1245

Hi, I’m Jennifer Taylor and I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 17 years now. We’ve moved a lot and I’ve lived in many towns such as: Austin, Boulder, Miami, and Los Angeles to name a few. I currently live in a suburb outside of Chicago and enjoy shopping, eating out, and getting down-to-earth service at small businesses.

I went back to school a few years ago and earned a degree in Journalism. While taking classes I discovered that I was drawn to writing feature articles about people and their businesses, small businesses to be exact. I want to combine what I LOVE… writing, shopping, eating out and helping small business owners get their names out there. I’ve always been one to cheer for the under dogs who have a dream, struggle, work hard, and do an amazing job contributing to their community. This is what successful small business owners do.IMG_7843

Big chain stores and restaurants have the money to advertise. Small businesses, however, depend on word of mouth or social media because it’s hard keeping a Ma and Pa shop afloat. For this reason, I want ALL of us to take just a minute to give shout outs to your favorite small businesses. Hashtag (#) the name of the company, tell me what city and state it’s in, and why you like it. Feel free to post more than one. I will be featuring some of my favorites and I just might come to your town and highlight your small business fav.

You’re also helping this girl out where I hope to write blogs and content for small businesses. I think I’m a pretty “hip” mom/shopper, but my teenagers have informed me THAT word is no longer cool. Hipster is. Thus, instead of being a Hipster, I’m a Shopster. So, follow me, tweet, share on Facebook, e-mail, text, whatever you do, help me help these little back bones and hearts of America. #smallbusinessshopster

  1. Love supporting small businesses especially in Lombard! A few of my favs are #shannonsdeli, a delicious deli and restaurant with a friendly staff. #praga, has a delightful $5 martini ladies night on Thursdays. And super cute new boutique called #paradiso! A shop with lots of variety for the stylish lady.

  2. Oldest wine shop in IL and restaurant originally opened pre-prohibition. Amazing history and fantastic small, family owned business in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, 1206 N Wells St. #thehouseofglunz #glunztavern
