I like to think of myself as someone who tries not to judge something without trying it first. I’ve heard of Healing Touch, but didn’t really know what it was. When small business owner, Nikki Wyllie, from NW Illumination reached out to me to feature her business I was intrigued and excited to learn more. Don’t knock something until you try it, right? I had to experience it for myself before I felt like I could write about it. But, before I share my experience, first things first…

Introduction

Nikki is a long-time resident of Elmhurst, IL and mother of two. She has been an Esthetician since 1997 and worked at places such as the popular East Bank Club in Chicago. She became a Reiki Master in 1998 (Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. She has completed all five levels in the Healing Touch Program and is a Healing Touch Practitioner. Nikki started NW Illumination in March 2014, founded on a mission to help people achieve balance in body, mind, and spirit.

Skin care

As a former teenage acne sufferer, Nikki understands the outward and inner struggles that can accompany acne. She has a holistic approach to skin care and can customize a skin care program to target individual problem areas. Nikki helps many teenagers who are experiencing hormonal changes and stresses that can cause havoc on their skin.

Nikki also has products and treatments to treat aging skin, with five different facial options to choose from as well as microdermabrasion, peels, LED light therapy, Ultrasonic and Clarasonic technology.

Stress and lifestyle contribute to the health of your skin, but you can’t solely treat these things with a topical cream. That’s where I think Healing Touch can come in and do the job.

Healing Touch

Healing Touch addresses the conditions that may be causing your body’s system to be imbalanced. All of us at some point or another suffer from physical pain, anxiety, stress, or depression. Research shows Healing Touch can reduce or relieve these ailments. According to the Healing Touch brochure it can strengthen the immune system, provide support during chemotherapy, reduce effects from trauma and chronic pain, enhance recovery from surgery, etc.

Healing Touch can be light, gentle touch or a no-touch approach to clear and balance different energy centers in your body known as Chakras. There are seven main energy centers.

My Experience

Like a lot of people these days, I have been experiencing stress. For me, stress causes tightness in my shoulders and discomfort in my upper stomach. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with Healing Touch. She asked me questions about my health and what issues I would like to address. Once I was comfortable on the table, Nikki put her hands on different areas and the major Chakras (energy centers) on my body. When she laid her hands on my stomach, I felt a tremendous amount of heat in that area and Nikki felt that heat with her hands. Nikki informed me that area was very imbalanced or compromised.

At a certain point I began to tell her a lot of the things that were causing my stress. I asked Nikki what Chakra she was working on and she said it was the one where you speak your truth or self- expression. I’m a pretty private person and here I was telling her the deepest things that were causing my anxiety lately.

Nikki says that everyone has different reactions to Healing Touch. For some, it’s just pure relaxation. Others might cry, which can be a way of releasing stress or negative energy. Or, you may feel heat or coolness in areas of the body, like I did. After this treatment, I realized I was no longer having pains in my stomach, and I haven’t since that session.

I felt that Healing Touch reduced the stress and anxiety that was causing my stomach pain. I even returned for a second visit. Nikki is such a sweetheart and I felt no pressure from her at all. It was a very relaxing, soothing experience. Give it a try and see how it can work for you.
